Adjara Walking: Eight Days from the Sea to the Mountains
Forest trails, old stone bridges and fortresses in the hills above Batumi, with tent nights and a guesthouse stay, on a journey designed and managed by Justvia Bespoke Travel.
- Batumi1 night
- Makhuntseti
- Zendidi
- Gobronetiguesthouse
- Mount Latevra
- Batumi1 night
Most visitors to Adjara stay on the coast. Above Batumi there is a green mountain country that few of them walk.
This trip leaves the coast on foot. You walk through the dense old forests of the Colchic region, cross medieval stone bridges, reach three hill fortresses and climb Mount Latevra for views over the Adjara ranges. Between the walks you stay in a village guesthouse and in tents, and you meet the people who live in these hills.
It suits people who like a real walking trip with a little adventure, and who are happy to sleep in a tent. We can also arrange this itinerary for your own company of friends, family or colleagues, on agreed dates. Tell us when you would like to travel and your group size, and we will confirm availability and the price. If you have never been to Georgia, our honest guide for UK first-timers covers visas, money and what to expect before you go.

Who it suitsIs this the right trip for you?
Yes, if you want to walk, enjoy simple comforts and a few nights under canvas, and like to see a part of Georgia that tourists rarely visit. It works well for couples, friends and small groups who walk.
Probably not, if you want hotels every night or a trip without walking. For something gentler, look at Western Georgia, or tell us what you have in mind on our bespoke trip page.
