Mountains and Wine: Seven Days in Tbilisi, Kazbegi and Kakheti
Tbilisi on foot, two nights in the Caucasus with a real walking day beneath Mount Kazbek, then the vineyards of Kakheti. Georgia's mountains without committing to a full trekking holiday, on a private trip designed by Jurijs, who founded Justvia Bespoke Travel.

- Kazbegi2 nights
- Tbilisi or Kakhetinight 5
- Sighnaghi
- Tbilisilast night
Three sides of Georgia in one week: the city, the mountains and the wine country.
Tbilisi is for culture, history and walking the old streets. Kazbegi is for the Caucasus, and for proper walking: you stay two nights, so there is a whole day on foot beneath Mount Kazbek instead of a quick photo stop. Kakheti is for the countryside, wine and food, and for slowing down before you fly home.
Jurijs, who founded Justvia, put this trip together for people who want Georgia's mountains without a full trekking holiday. It is a private journey for your own company, with dates and arrangements agreed before you book. Our honest guide for UK first-timers covers visas, money and what to expect before you go.
Two ways to spend night 5. Return to Tbilisi for a more relaxed evening, or continue to Kakheti for an overnight stay in wine country. Both versions visit Kakheti on day 6 and finish in Tbilisi. The six nights are either 4 in Tbilisi and 2 in Kazbegi, or 3 in Tbilisi, 2 in Kazbegi and 1 in Kakheti. We agree your version before booking.
Day by dayWhat the seven days look like
Click any day to see the full programme for that day.
Day 1Arrival in TbilisiSee the day

A private transfer from the airport to your hotel. Depending on when you land, an easy orientation walk through central Tbilisi to get your bearings, and a welcome dinner, which in Georgia is never a small thing. Night in Tbilisi.
Arriving late? We confirm the first evening's arrangements and whether a welcome dinner is possible when we plan around your flight time.
Day 2Tbilisi on footSee the day

A day spent mostly on foot, which is the best way to understand this city. The old town and its carved balconies, Metekhi church on its cliff above the river, the brick domes of the sulphur baths in Abanotubani, the area around Narikala fortress, and the viewpoints over the roofs. It is an introduction to Georgia through its history and its everyday life, rather than a drive from one sight to the next. Second night in Tbilisi.
Day 3The Georgian Military Road to KazbegiSee the day
North out of Tbilisi on the road across the Caucasus. You stop at Ananuri, the mountain viewpoints, Gudauri and the Jvari Pass, also called the Cross Pass. Then down into Stepantsminda, the village most people know as Kazbegi.

You stay here two nights, so there is no need to rush back. Night in Kazbegi.
Day 4A walking day in KazbegiSee the day

The reason for staying two nights. An easy to moderate walk around Stepantsminda and Gergeti is the more substantial walking day of the trip. The exact route, walking time and arrangements are agreed before booking, taking your ability and the weather into account.

If anyone in your group would rather take it easy, there is a less demanding alternative on the same day, so nobody has to choose between the mountains and comfort. Second night in Kazbegi.
Before you book. We confirm the walking route, its difficulty and the alternative, including what happens if the weather changes the plan. These photographs show the Kazbegi area, rather than a promise of a particular trail.
Day 5Back to Tbilisi or on to KakhetiSee the day

Leave Kazbegi and head south. The more relaxed version returns to Tbilisi for the night. The alternative continues to Kakheti for a night in wine country. We agree the stop and accommodation before you book, so the choice is part of your programme.
Day 6Sighnaghi and Kakheti, back to TbilisiSee the day

Explore Kakheti and Sighnaghi, with local cuisine and wine culture. If you spent night 5 in Tbilisi, this is a day trip from the city; if you stayed in Kakheti, you start here. Both versions return to Tbilisi for the last night. Visits, meals and any tastings are confirmed in your programme and quote.
Day 7Departure from TbilisiSee the day

Departure from Tbilisi. Your driver takes you to the airport for your flight home, with the timing planned around your flight.
